Rooting for the Home Team - Your Guide to Orlando's Sport Fun

 

Orlando, Florida, is known for its warm weather and abundance of theme parks, but it's also a huge hub for sports. From professional teams to amateur leagues, there are plenty of opportunities to be an active fan of sports in Orlando.

One of the most notable sports teams in Orlando is the Orlando Magic. The Magic is a professional basketball team that plays in the NBA's Eastern Conference. The team has a dedicated fan base and plays its home games at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando. The Amway Center is a state-of-the-art arena that can hold up to 20,000 fans and hosts a variety of other sports events throughout the year.

The Orlando Magic organization also plans to break ground this summer on a 3-year, $500 million project to transform downtown Orlando. The proposed complex would be built on roughly 8.4 acres, and is slated to include a hotel tower, more than 420,000 square feet of office space, along with restaurants, shops, and other amenities. The project has been compared to destinations like L.A. Live, a massive mixed-use destination across from the Crypto.com Arena, and is sure to make Orlando even more of a hot spot destination to live, work and play.

Another professional sports team in Orlando is Orlando City Soccer Club. The team is a part of Major League Soccer and plays its home games at Exploria Stadium, located in the heart of downtown Orlando. Orlando City SC is a popular team among soccer fans and has a loyal following in the city. Games are a great Sunday afternoon activity and are kid and family-friendly. 

Because of the year-round warm weather, Orlando is home to many world-class golf courses, including Bay Hill Club and Lodge, home of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and Grand Cypress Golf Club, which features 45 holes of championship golf. These courses attract golfers from around the world and are known for their challenging layouts and beautiful scenery.

If you're a fan of outdoor activities, Orlando also offers plenty of options for adventure sports. The city is home to the Orlando Watersports Complex, where you can watch wakeboarding, wakeskating, and other water sports. Additionally, there are many parks and trails throughout the city where you can go hiking, biking, or running.

Orlando, Florida, is a sports lover's paradise. From professional teams to amateur leagues, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in sports in the city. Whether you're a fan of basketball, soccer, golf, or adventure sports, there is truly something for everyone in Orlando!
