Osceola County is a great place to find Florida land for sale because of its many beautiful undeveloped and untouched areas. Osceola preserves a great natural history going back to its Native American roots. Formed in 1886, Osceola County is a 1,506 square mile area that serves as the south-central boundary of the Central Florida greater metropolitan area. The county was named after Native American leader Osceola whose name means "Black Drink Cry."

Transportation was built into Osceola's plans as it has grown. It has progressed from primarily a rural area to now containing quite a few urban areas with modern homes and amenities. Luckily, its transportation network provides access to the Orlando Beltway, Osceola Parkway, and the Florida Turnpike giving residents and tourists alike the means to quickly travel to Walt Disney World and Central Florida. Osceola County homes are fortunate to have access to two major airports, being 10 miles south of Orlando International Airport, and directly served by the Kissimmee Municipal Airport.

An urban area in the northwest quadrant of Osceola County real estate is beginning to break Osceola County's geography and rural roots. This area brings together Polk, Orange and Lake counties and includes most of Osceola's population. It's composed of the communities of Buenaventura, Poinciana Lakes, Disney's Celebration 1940's style neighborhood, and unincorporated areas ranging from Harmony in the northeast to Narcoossee, Campbell City, and Intercession City in the southwest to Deer Run and St. Cloud Manor in the southeast. Beyond the northwest quadrant and to the south and east, with the exception of several small, rural towns such as Holopaw, Kenansville and Yeehaw Junction, ranch lands and undeveloped prairie, woods and marsh dominate Osceola County.

There's also Shingle Creek Regional Park known for great canoeing and kayaking. Its location just minutes outside the busy tourist corridor of US highway 17-92 make it a great destination for those also wanting to experience the Walt Disney World Resorts and other various local attractions. Visitors often see Bald Eagles, glue heron, wild turkey, various turtle species, deer, cranes, and river otters in many of the Osceola's natural parks.
