Full Steam Ahead, Brightline to Debut in Orlando Q2 of 2023
Brightline is bringing an updated, contemporary way to travel across the state of Florida and is making its debut this year in our own backyard. Brightline is a carbon-neutral biodiesel passenger rail line that has operated in SoFL for almost 5 years. The service takes over 100k passengers annually between Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. Each train features upgraded restrooms, spacious seating, free wifi, power outlets, and optional food and beverage for passengers to travel stress-free.
The beginning portion of the 170-mile service expansion is set to debut in the second quarter of this year, with less than 10% of construction remaining; this alternative to driving will make travel in and around Orlando down to South Florida a breeze. Reaching speeds of up to 125 mph, the first 35-mile stretch will connect the Orlando International Aiport to Cocoa Beach, with a few local stops along its route. The remaining track to South Florida should be fully operational by the end of this summer. After the completion of the SoFL expansion, Brightline plans to expand from Orlando over to Tampa, creating true regional connectivity in and out of Central Florida.
Brightline will not only make tourist and leisure travel much more convenient and hassle-free, but it will also bring new business back into The City Beautiful and its surrounding counties. With less time spent in standstill interstate traffic, travelers and locals will have more time to enjoy the amenities Orlando has to offer. Eventually, Brightline plans to connect to the Sunrail at the “Sunshine Corridor” so that passengers can enjoy fun destinations like Winter Park, Lake Eola, and much more!
Brightline has the potential to bring incredible economic stimulus to the Orlando area, encouraging more people to live, work and play in Central Florida. Brightlines project is full steam ahead, and Floridians are excited about this new means of travel!
